Annual TaoZen Retreat in Italy is back!

Get out of your “Daily Small You”
and Expand into a More Spacious and Open Way of Being

with
Tenshin Ranman Taichi & the Three Treasures Practice

October 15-21 2022

This year we will be trying a new place and a new style…

Many places and villas are not yet up and running in Italy after covid… and some have decided to take a break altogether.  But we want to gather together and enjoy connecting this year! We have missed this so much.

Rosanna’s friend Marco to the rescue!  He has lovingly built a hotel and spa 1 hour south of Rome in Sabaudia and is holding space for us there.  From his website:  “Sabaudia is a small corner of paradise between sea, lakes and lots of nature. A few kilometers from Latina and just over an hour from Rome, the town of Sabaudia will impress you with its harmonious and livable architecture in all senses, with large spaces and green areas in which to stroll. [Fifteen minutes away,] A sandy coast stretches for about ten kilometers isolated from the road by a barrier of dunes which are European heritage . In Sabaudia the contrasts of the landscape will leave you breathless, a large national park, rich in vegetation and animals, four coastal brackish lakes in which to canoe in the shadow of Mount Circeo.”

TaoZen Life Practice~

Masahiro’s retreats and workshops attract people from wildly different vocations, personalities and backgrounds coming together to share their passion for Taichi, Qigong, meditation and loving community. We believe it is essential for us to gather and share love, trust and life through learning. Actually sharing our time with food, laughter and understanding is so important now and for our future. In this internet society, we deeply need real human.

This year we want to focus on how to really apply our meditation and taichi to our daily life–whether it’s our helath, our work life or our love relationships.  Through our exploration and connection into the “Three Treasures” in all its different forms and through our body-mind movements of Tenshin Ranmen, we will shift our views and feelings into a larger and more spacious place.

School Trips~

In addition to the deep practice of “Three Treasures” and the healing, fluid movements of “Tenshin Ranman Taichi” we are planning two group trips:

–A full day trip to an antique village to share a special lunch and practice in on of their ancient piazzas.
–A shorter trip, perhaps a half day — our destination to be determined.
–And a special Pasta Making class/time with Rosanna.

The Food!

Rosanna Passione, our favorite chef, is back (of course! how could we have our retreat without Rosanna!).  She will be amazing us once again with her incredibly delicious and healthful food. Rosanna is the author of: “Ricette per Giorni Speciali – Libro”, “Cavoli e Zucche in Cucina”, and “Cucinare i Legumi” and a teacher of Italian cooking and cuisine.

Pasta Making Fun~

In addition to Rosanna’s daily magic, she has agreed to let us into the kitchen to learn about making pasta –hands on!  When we did this a few retreats back, we made the “Longest Lasagna” ever!

This Year’s Agenda: Tai Chi & Meditation

This will be our 8th retreat in Italy, and we are happy to come back together with so many friends –both old and new– and Rossana Passione, our favorite chef.

Come and enjoy Wonderful People, Amazing Food, and Vibrant Practices… In a country of history and beauty.  Join us for Deep Meditation, Conscious Breathing and Flowing Taichi practices.

We will start our mornings with TaoYin and meditation, on the lawn or in our dedicated practice space.

We will learn and practice TaoZen Meditation, Breathing and Tenshin Ranman Taichi through the day.  This year we will spend more time practicing and contemplating together rather than just learning the steps of a method.

Three Treasures  Meditation

Three Treasures Meditation is an advanced meditation embraces very deep and magnificent views and traditions. Three Treasures takes us to different points of views/existences and integrates them into our life.

The Three Treasures shapes various spiritual traditions:

In Taoism: The Three Dantians in our body,
The Three Realms of Heaven, Earth and Human, and the Three Dimensions of Five Elements.
In Hinduism: Trimurti, the Three Central Channels.
In Buddhism: The Three Jewels or Three Refuges, especially in Tibetan and Japanese esoteric Buddhism.
In Shinto: Sanpo and Three Magical Tools.
And in Christianity: the Trinity.

We can also think about the Three Treasures in more contemporary ways :

Past, Present and Future.
Body, Mind and Spirit.
You and I and They or
You and I and Nature.
And Here and Now and Beyond.

We will root our practice in the Three Dantians of our body, the Three realms of Heaven, Earth and Human, and the Three Senses of Time (Here and Now and Beyond).

We will expand these methods into daily life practices, such as how they shape our human relationships, work situations, health issues, and larger social issues.  We learn how this can help us observe and choose responses and actions in our real-life situations. We will also learn how to shift our relation to Space and Time: important elements for deep communications, healing, and self-realization.

This a dynamic practice and the core of TaoZen Life Practice, integrating ancient spirituality into our daily life and creating change in our future societies.  As always, both beginners and more experienced practitioners are welcome and will be supported and deeply engaged.

Tenshin Ranman Taichi

Tenshin Ranman is our signature Taichi form. It contains all the traditional Taichi movements but only requires 7 minutes and a 2 x 2 meter area, so it can be practiced anywhere and anytime once you learn it. It is a powerful practice that integrates mind, body and spirit, developing mental and physical grounding and centering. But more than anything, it is fun and joyful. You can learn and practice Tenshin Ranman Taichi at any age and with any physical conditioning~ whether you are a seasoned athlete or in need of strength and recovery. If you know the form, this is your opportunity to refine and polish what you’ve learned!  This year, if you want to certify to teach the form, we will have sessions to help. If you are new to Tenshin Ranman, you are also welcome! Masahiro will spend plenty of time introducing the basic building blocks of the form.
